An Individual Compass in Global Chaos: My Changing Perspective on the World

After a long period of research and reading, my perspective on the world and the developments unfolding within it has changed considerably. Amid the turmoil of political, economic, and social events on a global scale, I believe it is profoundly important to clarify what we should do, and how, without losing our sense of self as individuals.

To explain this view, I want to briefly analyze the current state of the world. Taking the United States first, despite its strong and growing economy, it faces an external debt problem that has reached enormous proportions. At the same time, the work of companies like NVIDIA on autonomous cities, Google on wearable technologies, and Meta on smart glasses shows just how fast technological progress is moving.

China, on the other hand, stands out as a closed yet functioning system. Built on sacrifice and discipline, this system continues its passion for production undiminished, even as it remains under constant pressure from embargoes and trade wars. China's vast investments, particularly in quantum technologies, stand out as significant steps that will shape the future.

Turning to Europe, we see a continent confronting the problems brought by its aging population, one that has fallen behind in both production and consumption. Europe's slowness in technological innovation could become a major disadvantage in future competition. Especially in artificial intelligence and quantum technologies, Europe's position — caught between giants like China and the US — is quite critical.

As for the emerging nations, although India and the African continent hold significant potential, it is clear that they have at least five years ahead of them before they can assert themselves more prominently on the global stage.

Finally, looking at Turkey, we see a country squeezed between political and economic problems despite its young population and potential. While a large part of society lives oriented toward consumption rather than economic production, internal conflicts and the intensity of the political agenda continually drag the country into a deadlock.

Seeing and evaluating all these different pictures at once both allows us to hold positive expectations for the future and can push us toward pessimism. On one side, technological advances and the work of visionary people give hope; on the other, poverty, ignorance, and ineffective leadership blur the future.

Despite everything, by reading across many fields — technology, politics, economics, philosophy, software, law — I try to anticipate the challenges we may face in the future and to identify the best options amid this uncertainty. In this piece, I wanted to share my general thoughts plainly and openly. Thank you to everyone who reads it.
